The Anchorage is an architecturally and historically significant property in the Chicago neighborhood of East Garfield, dating back to the late 1800s. The property was purchased in 2023 by the founder of the Chicago based studio, Good Chaos, to save its historic buildings, and to honor its history of caring for women and their children. It is now being restored as an interactive space for Garfield Park residents and community members of all ages. It will offer public gardens, a cafe, and spaces uniquely designed for relaxation, creativity, and connection. Landmark status was recently granted and a significant restoration scope is part of the project.
